Join Matzner Clinic, with support from Chambanamoms and Junior League of Champaign-Urbana, for the first annual free “Backpack Safety Check!”
Bring your kids and their backpacks, and let the doctors at Matzner Clinic, along the Ollie the Owl, guide your child to a healthier spine and prevent injury from backpack misuse!
Children attending the event will follow “Ollie the Owl on his journey to Wellness!” There is a treasure map with the five stations the kids will complete to receive their personalized certificate stating they are OFFICIAL “Backpack Safety Specialists!”
The FREE event will include spinal/ scoliosis screenings, posture analysis, a demonstration of simple stretches for kids to do to help counteract the negative affects of carrying a backpack, healthy lunch tips from our in-office nutritionists, and a full evaluation of your child’s backpack-including how much it should weigh based on your child’s weight, how to properly pack and wear the backpack to prevent injury,and at the end- LUNCH! The nutrition coaches in the office are going to help the kids pack a healthy sack lunch with fun options.
This exciting event takes place Saturday, September 13 from 11:00-2:00 at 1712 S.Duncan Road, Champaign. While the event is complimentary, we are collecting school supplies at the office to donate to the Junior League “League Locker”, to help support the teachers in our community!
